Miss Mary and I took the kids up to Dothan, AL last week to Landmark Park for our end of year field trip. It is a neat little park with all kinds of things for the kids to see and do. Once again, no camera, so these pictures are from my phone. 
They have a garden set up on an old farm. The farm house is set up with antiques and was pretty neat. They also have some barns in this area with old plows and other farm equipment. They had mules, chickens, cows and calves, goats and sheep for the kids to see. In this area they also have an old log cabin and a sugar cane mill run by the mules. All the buildings are original and were donated and moved to the site.
In another area they have an old town set up with a church, school house, general store and drug store with a soda shop in it. This was the kids favorite because they got to drink a soda that the lady made for them. They also had ice cream and could make malts and milkshakes. In the drug store, they had all kinds of antiques and the lady that was running things got some of the old toys out for the kids to see and let them see how an old telephone worked. She was a really nice lady and we spent alot of time talking with her. In the back of this store they had an old Dr's office set up with an antique wheel chair and exam table. I could have stayed in here for hours just looking at all the stuff they had!

They also had 2 nature trails you could walk. We chose to do the one with board walks since we had a stroller and I really don't feel like getting to up close and personal with Alabama wild life! It's a good thing we did too because about half way through the trail there was a huge snake along the trail and going under the board walk laying in some water. Yuck! We ran on past that part after the kids saw it. We also saw some lizards, a squirrel and tons of turtles in the lake. Along the trails they had educational centers set up of animals that had been stuffed. The kids liked these a lot and I appreciated the fact that these animals were dead. This next picture is a huge tree trunk they had cut down and had on display...it was huge!
We enjoyed a picnic lunch and they also had a very nice playground the kids played on. We are glad we didn't wait any later to go because even the day we were there the temperature reached 90 degrees! We are planning on going back in the fall when they have a harvest celebration and the kids can pick a pumpkin and some sunflowers on a hay ride. Maybe next time Daddy and Papa Don can come too!
