Celebrating like a Super Hero

This past week Sam turned 6! We celebrated two weekends in a row and he had a great birthday.
Papa Don and Miss Mary threw him a swim party the weekend before his birthday because they were leaving for South Florida right before his birthday for their fall camping trip. He had a great time swimming, eating, opening gifts and eating cake and ice cream. We finished the party up watching the Gators play some football.
Another birthday highlight around here is getting mail from back home.
I think he got packages for three days in a row...one lucky boy indeed!
The Saturday after his Birthday we had a Super Hero party for some of his friends. They all had a great time. We made home made capes and masks that the kids got to decorate. They loved making up their own super heroes and were pretty creative with it.
There was some Pinata fun...which thankfully resulted in no injuries.
We also had a Super Hero Top Shot competition where Troy had set up different stations where the kids competed against each other testing their super hero skills. Some of the dad's even got in on this!
We ended the party with an "Avenger" cake and some ice cream. Everyone was hyped up on sugar and filthy when they left so I think it's safe to say they had a great time.
I can't believe my Baby Boy is six already!

24 week Baby Update

I had my regular 4 week check with the Dr. Yesterday and she decided to go ahead and take a quick peak at Marla's kidneys and heart. The ultrasound tech was able to visualize the four chambers of the baby's heart very quickly which was a relief. (They couldn't see all four chambers last time) As far as her kidney's go, the area on her kidneys that are collecting urine had grown, but not as much as they had expected. This is also good news! We have an Ultrasound scheduled on October 12th to check the placement of the placenta and to see if the kidney issue will clear up completely. If not we will be referred to Sacred Heart in Pensacola for further testing. I had all three of the kids with me for the Ultrasound and they were pretty fascinated by it! Otherwise everything is looking good as far as Marla and I  are concerned and we are very thankful that this pregnancy is moving along without major complications :-)

In support of my recent "accessory" post....

You just never know how she will be dressed when she comes down the stairs!

New School Year

We are 6 weeks into our 3rd year of homeschooling. We got a jump on things this year because the summer was very miserable with rain and no car so we went a head and started a little early. We plan on taking a few vacations in the fall so it's nice to have a little cushion :-)
Megan is 2 and will not hold still for anything if she isn't strapped down! She had to adjust a lot when we started school because she lost her playmates. She likes to color, use play-doh, work on puzzles and write on the chalk board during school time. She usually just follows me around and says "momma I need you!"

Sam is 5 and is in Kindergarten. He does well on his work, but like most boys would rather be doing something else. He is left handed so I thought hand writing would be a challenge, but it is actually what he does the best at. This is him dressed up for "hat day" when they learned the letter H. And yes he is in his pajamas....this is the flexibility of home school ;-)

Maddie is 7 and in the 2nd grade. She enjoys doing her work most of the time. She really enjoys reading and loves to sit and read books to Sam and Megan. She has also taken an interest in making sure her hand writing is neat and tidy this year. Her favorite subject by far is Art. She loves to draw, paint, cut and paste, and use lots of glitter!
The kids have also joined a home school PE class that meets near our house on Thursday afternoons and they seem to be having a lot of fun at that. We are very blessed to have tons of home school support at our church and in the community. It helps the kids to form friendships and for me to have support form other moms as well.
