Stone Mountain

 Over Memorial Day weekend we went on a family vacation to Stone Mountain, GA. We had a great time at this state park and the kids told us they liked it better than Disney World :-) It of course isn't really a Mountain, but a very large piece of granite that is exposed. It has a large carving (bigger than Mt Rushmore) of the leaders of the confederate army on the side of it.

 One of the attractions of the park is a large Antebellum Plantation. Since we stayed at the Stone Mountain Inn, the kids got to go over and have a private tour of all the houses on the plantation and feed the animals they keep on the farm. They really enjoyed that!

 Another one of their favorite things was called "The Barn". It was a large building that had soft balls everywhere and a big system of things to do with them. You could gather them up and shoot them at your friends, sort them by colors or let them be sucked up large vacuums. About every 10 minutes a bell would ring and tons of balls would rain down on the kids. This building was three stories tall and had huge slides and a few soft playgrounds for Marla also. We spent a lot of time in there!

 We enjoyed some great weather and the kids got a lot of fresh air and exercise! By the end of the day we didn't have to convince them to go to bed. The park is beautifully landscaped and had tons of walking trails.

 Marla did great even though a lot of her time was spent in the stroller. As long as she had snacks and we kept moving she did pretty well.

Another big attraction was the sky climb. Troy. Maddie and Sam tackled this one and they had a great time. They had harnesses on them so they couldn't fall and they did a bunch of obstacles very high off the ground. Sam loved it, Maddie didn't.

 Megan did the smaller course about 25 times while we waited on Daddy and the gang to finish their course. At first she was scared but by the end she had conquered every obstacle!

We rode up to the top of the mountain in a cable car. It was really high up! We also took the train ride around the mountain, Watched the laser show and firework display, played at Geyser Towers in the water and enjoyed some night swims at the hotel pool. It was a great time and somewhere we might choose to visit again.

Summer Time!

 Even though some of us are refusing to move past Halloween, most of us are excited it's summer time! The kids finished up their school last Friday and we are one week in to our summer break.....AND life has not slowed down one bit!

 We have been spending lots of time with friends, going to the beach, visiting the Library, and have been attending a home school gym class on Wednesdays. We have also been setting up the tent with Daddy in the back yard, throwing the football, filing papers, riding our bikes, and switching clothes out since everyone refuses to quit growing :0)

We found a summer treat that Marla loves...corn on the cob! we have been blessed with some cooler days and are enjoying every minute of them!

Every Hour

 The girls are dancing this weekend in the dance recital "Every Hour". They are so excited:-) Maddie loves dance. Mondays are her favorite days since that is when her dance class is. She has been dancing with most of these girls for the past 5 years and has some great friends in her class. This year her ballet dance is "Alone" and the most exciting thing is that she has a flat tutu...she has never had one before and she loves it! Maddie's Jazz dance is "Why can't we be Friends?". It's a song about dogs and cats. It is the girls favorite and it is really cute!

 

 This is Megan's first year of dance. She is in a beginners class that only meets for 30 minutes a week. They are dancing a ballet to "I Wuv a Wabbit" It is extremely cute. At dress rehearsal three girls left the stage crying so we will see how it goes! I'm proud of her because all year she has refused to wear tights because she has an issue with things on her feet, and today at rehearsal she put her tights on like a champ and told me now that she is big enough to dance on the stage she will wear her tights.

I'm not sure if dance will be Meg's thing, she has enjoyed it this year! We are thankful for their dance studio and their teachers!
