Fun with Grammy Mary

Grammy Mary came to visit over the weekend. The kids had made a list of things they wanted to do while she was here and had lots of fun marking things off! We went putt-putting on the beach and had a yummy dinner Sunday night. She brought her dog, which the kids thought was just fabulous! They loved taking care of him.

They also had a tea party with Grammy. Lots of great memories were made :-)

Bags

Troy has been working the past few weekends to get a little sewing center set up in the new addition. It has been so nice to have a place to work on projects and then just close the door and be able to come back to them! I grabbed my scrap basket and made Megan a new diaper bag. I had been sending her to church with one that said "Madaline" which really seemed to confuse the nursery workers....anyway now she is set!
Sam found a scrap of Florida Gator polar fleece at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and begged me to make him a back pack with it. I wasn't sure about making a back pack with polar fleece, but it was very easy to throw together. He loves filling it up with treasures and toting them around.

Maddie needed a new ballet bag for her shoes, so we went to Hobby Lobby and let her choose some material. It has ballerinas and sparkles on it! I made her a quick sling bag which holds the shoes great and is easy to carry.

So now we are set for bags around this house. On to the next project!

Updates

We have been busy in a good way lately :-) The kids are really settling into a school routine. We are enjoying the lovely fall Florida weather. Troy's schedule is nice this semester in that he has had almost no homework, and is home every night except Thursdays. It has been a much needed break after the craziness of the last 2 semesters.Megan is 14 months now and into everything! This little girl won't walk yet, but she climbs up on everything. This week Troy was getting some things out of the attic and I found her on the top step of the attic access ladder! She can get on the couch, climb the stairs and tries to get on the kids beds. She keeps us laughing with her dance moves and funny personality.

Sam has seemed to settle in and almost enjoy his school lately. We have some rough days where a little gentle persuasion is necessary, but for the most part he is willing to learn and has learned alot already! He is practicing his cursive writing, can count to and recognize the ones family, and has mastered all his colors. He is still my hard worker and likes to jump in wherever I am and start "helping". He grabbed some laundry yesterday and folded the towel on the top left. He does all my dishes and is right in Daddy's footsteps whenever he is home. He is always saying something hilarious to get me through the day with a smile!
Sam: Mommy can we go to Indiana for Christmas?
Me: We are hoping to!
Sam: Am I going to have to throw up?
(we have gotten a stomach virus for the past few years when home for Christmas.) Maddie is loving first grade. She is reading like crazy and does very well in math. She is back in ballet and practices around the house constantly. She is a great helper in the kitchen and really enjoys cooking. She is quieter than Sam, but really thinks alot before she talks and is asking lots of questions lately.
Maddie: Mommy why do people say Jesus is King of the 'juice'?

Another funny things she said lately..
Me: You are the oldest so I need you to be a big helper with the babysitter while Mommy and Daddy are gone.
Maddie: So you want me to tell Sam when to go to bed and stuff like that?

They are each a blessing and we are thankful for them!

Piggy's

Compared to Maddie at this age, Megan has tons of crazy, blond, hang-in-your face, won't leave a hair bow in, hair. I've been tempted to cut bangs just so I don't have to see it in her eyes, but really don't want to have to keep up with bangs, so it just continues to grow and hang. Last week before Wednesday night church in a despirate attempt to make it look like I do her hair, I put some piggy's in. To my great surprise when I picked her up from nursery they were still intact! (Usually a rubber band and hair bow don't make it out of the drive way before they are removed and tossed) I guess she is going to just be an up-do sorta gal!
In other Megan news, she has finally cut all of her one year molars and we are all so glad!
