Cousin Fun

We had lots of fun with my brother and his family while they were down vacationing on St. George Island. The kids always love to spend time with cousins! It's so nice to have older ones around to help with the younger ones. It made it easy to visit with Matt and Dana. Maddie and Liberty had a great time together. Everyday since they left Maddie has pretended to be Liberty and Sam has been Brad (Rayleigh's boyfriend). We also now have a pretend dog named Lilly!

We had fun splashing in the ocean and the pool. I'm always excited to spend time with my brothers and sisters!

Birthday Party!

My brother Matt and his family are down from IN this week on their Spring Break. It has been one of Maddie's requests every year to have her cousins at her birthday party, so on Saturday we had a little party for her with Matt's girls. Here is a picture with Matt's three youngest girls. Maddie and Liberty are the same age and had tons of fun together.
Maddie wanted a rainbow birthday cake. She was pretty specific in her wishes even though she doesn't like cake. I actually had pretty short notice to throw this together since Matt and Dana came down earlier than we thought, so I only did 4 colors. Maddie was very quick to point out that the purple and orange layers were missing, but I told her Mommy was doing the best she could with what we had on hand! It was a very yummy cake with chocolate butter cream icing. I'm so glad Matt and his girls we here to help me eat it!

Remodel Update....

Troy is coming right along with the remodel project. He finished the electrical, ran the duct work, and insulated the attic while he was on spring break. He is now working on the interior wall. Sam has been in his every step.He has been getting some hands on experience,Providing comic relief (He kept walking around with these pliers moving them up and down saying "Daddy feed me candy!"), But he usually just supervises and accompanies Daddy on all trips to Lowes!

Something is missing.....

Can you see what is missing in this video? It's the kids training wheels! Maddie said now that she is six she didn't need training wheels anymore and Sam said he didn't want his either so we took them off and the kids are doing great at riding without them.

More Spring Break Fun

On Friday we went to the park to enjoy some nice sunshine! Megan went down the slide for the first time. She looks a little unsure in this picture, but she actually loved it. Maddie is a great helper with Megan. I think she felt a little more secure with Maddie than with Sam!She also got in the swing for the first time. She enjoyed her time out of the stroller. Then we took Daddy a picnic lunch down by the water. I included this picture because Sam dressed himself. He loves these snow boots and sometimes I just let him wear them! They came in handy at the beach because he could wade out in the water and his feet stayed dry. He also found this stick and was trying to catch a fish or crab. He is 100% boy! We had fun on Spring break, but I'm ready for a little more structure in our life!

Breaking it Down on Spring Break

This week we have been on Spring break from school! Daddy has been off from school too so it has been a fun week. Every night Daddy has been working on our remodel project, but he promised the kids he would take them golfing one night. We went yesterday right after Daddy got off work to avoid the Spring Break crowds and it turned out to be a very nice afternoon. Putt Putt is a little bit of a slow sport for Maddie and Sam. They like to run to each hole and hit the ball several times or maybe just pick it up if they feel like it. They got a little ahead of us once and hit their balls when the group in front of us was still putting. It's just as much fun to explore the course as it is to get the ball in the hole to them.
After we explained about taking turns and golf etiquette, Sam decided to entertain us with victory dances at each hole while we waited for the group in front of us to finish up. Let me tell you- that was entertainment!

We had a really good time spending time together and enjoying the gorgeous weather!

Here is a clip of one of Sam's little jigs. Hope you enjoy!

Maddie turns Six

Today is Maddie's 6th birthday. Last night we had a small family birthday party to celebrate. She wanted a rainbow birthday so we made a giant chocolate chip cookie and decorated it with skittles. Maddie and Daddy don't like cake, so this was a great alternative. She also got a rainbow stack of gifts! We ordered Papa Johns Pizza, Maddie's favorite, and Megan decided to try out the crust. All three of the kids have been battling colds. The pollen count is really high right now and it is just tearing us up this year. Megan's turned into an ear infection so this poor baby didn't feel very good.
Sam made Maddie a card this year all by himself. It was very sweet!
Making a wish....
and blowing out the candles. Some of her favorite gifts were a set of American Girl paper dolls, and the American Girl puppy dog named Honey. She also had a small party in Sunday School with her friends. She and I made rainbow cupcakes for that and had a great time decorating them together. She got to wear a Birthday Crown at church and really had a special day!

An Update....

Here is an up date on my new years resolutions....

1. I've been running 3 times a week for 20 minutes pretty consistently. I don't want to run more than this right now because I'm still nursing Megan. Once she is weaned I will try and kick it up some. So I guess I'm doing pretty good on that one.

2. I've been saving tons of money couponing! The down side is it's taking up tons of my time, but right now I have more time than money ;-) I have saved on average 50% and up to 100% in some trips. For example this weeks trip to Winn Dixie $114 before coupons and savings/ $44 dollars after coupons and savings!

3. Starting my own etsy shop.....well I came up with a name (Sew Mary Designs) and ordered the necessary hardware to make pacifier clips. The drawback right now is that we are up to our necks in remodeling the garage into a family room. Once that is complete I will have a place to "set up shop".

Reading

I'm very proud of Maddie's reading skills! She is able to read well enough now that it is fun to listen to her. The best part is when she reads a story and gets it, then starts laughing like a kindergarten reader story is the funniest thing she has ever heard.I find it interesting that we home school her, yet she gets homework assignments in reading. She always wants to read these to Daddy. He is proud of her too!

7 months

Disclaimer- I'm having camera issues so this picture is a few weeks old.Megan turned 7 months yesterday! She is such a happy little baby. She now has 2 teeth (her 2nd came in this morning!) At the Dr. today she weighed 17# 13 oz and was 26 inches long. She is eating her baby food well. Her favorites are peas, carrots, bananas, and applesauce. She can get anywhere she wants to go by rolling and scooting. She clearly says Da-Da when she sees Troy and has developed a bad case of stranger anxiety. A man spoke to her in the Target line this week and she totally freaked out. I think she is a pretty good judge of character because he scared me a little too. In the same store a kind elderly lady came up and spoke to her and she just smiled and cooed. (Because you know if you go into a store with three kids people will either give you dirty looks like children should not be in public, or come up and talk to/touch your children like they are any ones property.) Anyway, back to the subject! The Dr. told me this morning that it is a sign of a high IQ to get stranger anxiety this early.
I told him it was from the womb!
