Last Sunday Troy and I took the kids to Destin to ride go karts! When we had the baby in 2013 we told the kids we weren't doing birthday parties and that they could pick something they wanted to do fun for their birthdays that year. There are a lot of tourist attractions around here that the kids would like to do, but they are expensive so we rarely get to do them. Maddie chose to go to Gulf World and we took a few friends, Meg had her birthday in Indiana with cousins and Sam chose go karting. His birthday was in September and we have attempted to go several times but things have always come up. The karts here are bigger and he wanted to be able to drive so that is why we went to Destin. Boy did he love it! He said the wait was worth it :-)
Of course when we got there the kiddie track was not running so Troy had to ride with them and take them on the adult track. The Karts went pretty fast and the track had lots of turns and twists.
We had bought Maddie and Sam tickets to ride the go karts and Megan some tickets to ride on the other rides like the carousel, but after seeing her older brother and sister ride she was determined to ride in the go karts. She made the height requirements just barely and was super excited to feel the wind in her hair :-)
It was a fun day and the weather was just perfect, I'm glad we finally made it!
