Last Tuesday night we got some sleet and ice. It was down to 28 degrees for more than 24 hours. This was record breaking for around these parts! My kids loved it! Right around 4 am it started sleeting which left a white layer on the ground so they of course thought it had snowed. They went outside before they got dressed to see their winter wonderland.
Marla sure wanted to get out there and see what all the fuss was about, but she just watched the action from behind glass. 28 degrees is too cold for a little one :-)
There was a layer of ice on everything...here is our orange tree with icicles on it. We aren't sure if it will survive or not.
Maddie had to make sure her doll was nice and toasty too.
As you can imagine, ice in Florida shut things down. Troy had to stay home because the bridges were closed so he couldn't make it in to work. He decided to light a fire in our fireplace for the 2nd time in 9 years. The kids had a blast with that. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows for lunch and then made some baked potatoes in the fire for dinner the next night. That night we played board games by the fire. It was fun to be by the fire and it actually feel good.
The next day they kids went out and played hockey on our deck. By noon all the ice was gone and all we had were the memories of our fun "snow" day....today it is 70 degrees and sunny so I guess it's back to reality :-)
